Harrods, the luxury department store, has continuously enhanced its food offering through high quality counters, including a Patisserie, Bakery, Steakhouse, Oyster Bar, and features a variety of exotic fresh fruits that are difficult to find elsewhere. Additionally, the department store has added a section dedicated to a limited assortment of household, personal care and snack items, resembling a small supermarket and demonstrating Harrods’ efforts to make the food hall a place where people come in for some of their weekly shopping. Other elements include an area where shoppers can build their own customized tea and an area where shoppers can witness the coffee making, all of which aim to enhance the store’s experiential feel. In September, Harrods had already introduced its Christmas gift assortment.
This Metro store in downtown Lima includes a variety of services at the entrance, including a Mi Farma-branded pharmacy, a LATAM airlines desk, ATM services and more. In the store, there are distinct departments dedicated to baby products, wine and spirits, and pet, while fresh is located towards the back of the store with signage indicating product origin and farming processes. The store has a good mix of national and private label brands with multiple promotions linked to the retailer’s loyalty program and signage showcasing new products on the shelf. There were also Halloween-related products, such as pumpkins, and decorations recognizing the season, while impulse products at the front end were personal care, laundry, few confectionery, and some specialized items.
Guardian, Singapore’s largest health & beauty chain, opened a small store inside the Marina Bay Sands mall, which is well-lit and has an abundance of product guidance signage. The store includes a pharmacy and offers various promotions on all categories, including vitamins, personal care and beauty products. At the front of the store, shoppers will find a small assortment of snacks and beverages, as well as signage for the Ramadan season.
This tiny Mifarma store has the majority of products behind the counter, with a selection of more premium beauty products merchandised separately on the side. Shoppers will find multiple product promotions, while the store carries a mix of OTC, medicines, personal care and beauty products.
Amazon opened a Fashion pop-up in London for 5 days, which showcased some of the apparel and athleisure products the retailer carries, including a mix of its own labels and brands, such as Calvin Klein and New Look. Shoppers could try out products and purchase them in the store or scan labels using the Amazon app to purchase them online and have them delivered. In the evenings, Amazon hosted a variety of free events, including yoga classes, music performances, styling workshops and beauty forums. The assortment changed every 2 days with Amazon aiming to gather insights on apparel ranges and pricing, as well as test yet another physical store experience.
