Dia engages banks to seek buyer for Clarel

Dia has ordered Santander and BBVA to search for a buyer for its Clarel drugstore business. Dia aims to achieve a selling price in the region of EUR200 million. This divestment, as well as that of its Max Descuente cash & carry banner, will be implemented throughout the first quarter, sources state. Santander and BBVA are the financial institutions most invested in the recent EUR900 million refinancing deal for the troubled discount chain. (Portuguese language)
