Carrefour to track 20% of its products on blockchain by 2020
Carrefour intends to use blockchain technology to track 20% of its product shipments by 2020. Carrefour already uses blockchain technology to track the supply chain of 20 out of 300 Carrefour-branded products across the supply chain, but it plans to add about 40 more goods to the list over the coming months, according to Carrefour blockchain program director Emmanuel Delerm.
The retailer's pilot projects have been implemented in six countries, including France, Italy, Spain and China. Carrefour customers can get detailed information about the origin of the product they are buying by scanning the QR code on the package.
