Jerónimo Martins trials deli service in select Biedronka stores
In a break from its standard store model, Polish discounter and market leader Biedronka has introduced its first serviced counters for meat, sausages, and cheese. A recent opening under the Biedronka 2.0 concept in Myslowice, southern Poland, features 5m of space dedicated to the offer, while parent company Jerónimo Martins confirmed that over a dozen stores now offer serviced counters.
The move comes as Biedronka looks to overcome a rising issue of saturation in the market and to broaden its shopper base by appealing to more affluent and younger shoppers. (German language, paywall)
