Amazon India looks to expand to rural areas

With its ‘I Have Space’ initiative, Amazon wants to partner with small-time grocery shop owners in India to improve its delivery network.

Amazon is eyeing the markets in tier II and tier III cities and in rural areas and is also tying up with kirana shops to use their network to deliver goods. Subbu Palaniappan, Amazon India Head-Prime Member Growth & Engagement, said that under the ‘I Have Space’ initiative, the company is penetrating into rural segments by partnering with small-time grocery shop operators.
